Let’s have a greener Christmas!
As the COP 26 Climate Conference comes to a close, it can be daunting to try and work out what we can do as individuals to actually make a difference. I’ve been thinking a lot about the small changes we can make to be more sustainable and create a more positive future for our children.
Our waste bins are always over-flowing around Christmas time with far more food waste, packaging and, dare I say, unwanted gifts. Perhaps we should consider more sustainable gift ideas to give this year, ie. gifts that use minimal resources to make, like cosmetics in sustainable packaging or jewellery made from found materials, or better still, a handmade gift you crafted yourself.
From an environmental point of view, so many gifts are unused every year and are also full of unnecessary packaging. According to a charity survey, the most unwanted Christmas presents are bath products, films & box sets and candles.
Spending time with loved ones and making homemade gifts are surely more thoughtful ways of enjoying the festive season together? I’m lucky, with Powertex, I get to do both these things and offer the chance for others to do the same! And as Powertex is best used with natural fabrics and items, it’s a wonderful way to reuse items that you’d otherwise throw away.
Through Artistic ReTreats gift vouchers, you can make a present of time to spend doing something fun and new or indulging a passion on a workshop. Or if you’d like to create a thoughtful, handmade gift, why not try a Powertex Starter Kit – a festive Robin, Angel or Heart? Everything you need to create a pretty tree decoration or gift is in the starter kit.
Learn a new skill together
There’s no better way to share quality time together than getting lost in an art workshop for a few hours! Our Powertex workshops are a fun way to learn a new skill or experiment with a new medium, perfect for small groups or couples.
Handmade with love
Homemade gifts are a wonderful way to show your love for someone special, whether it’s a tasty treat from the kitchen or a sculpture to sit on their mantelpiece or in the garden. Homemade gifts last for years and show that you have spent time creating something unique with the recipient in mind.
Encourage a hobby
Gift vouchers can be spent on any of the Powertex products available on the Artistic ReTreats website so by giving a voucher to a creative friend or relative, you can help them to build their supplies and encourage them to indulge their hobby.
Artistic ReTreats gift vouchers can be personalised for any amount from £5. Find out more and order athttps://www.artisticretreats.co.uk/index.php/art-supplies/gift-vouchers
