Remember Me
miracle morning

Start the year with a Miracle Morning

I’m not a fan of big New Year’s Resolutions. I think they put too much pressure on ourselves and are difficult to maintain, a huge percentage of resolutions are abandoned before the end of January.

However, I do believe in the benefit of making small changes that can improve our outlook and lifestyle. So for this January 2022 I'm changing 'just one thing', by revisiting the ‘Miracle Morning’ way of starting my day. I tried this last summer with some success but with the pandemic and other challenges, I didn’t manage to keep it up. I definitely felt the benefit last year so I’m giving it another go!

‘The Miracle Morning’ by Hal Elrod isn’t a new idea, it was first published in 2012 with the aim of helping people to be more productive and positive. There are six elements to the Miracle Morning: Silence; Affirmations; Visualisation; Exercise; Reading; Scribing. Combined, these practices can take up to an hour so you’re encouraged to get up earlier.

Here’s how my Miracle Morning works:

Firstly, I start my Miracle morning at 8am after the children have gone to school and my husband has settled down to work, I know that I’ll have a clear hour to myself at this time!

  1. Silence – this refers to meditation which is proven to really help with our mental health. It takes a little practice to feel the benefit but there are lots of apps that can help.

  2. Affirmations – I repeat a sentence or two about what I want to achieve and how I’ll do it. We should repeat this every day out loud to ourselves.

  3. Visualisation – this trains our brain to see our ideal day for five minutes. Visualisation can help us to see our affirmations coming true in our mind’s eye.

  4. Exercise – this doesn’t have to be a massive run or gym session, it can be some stretches or going for a walk for 10 minutes to get the blood flowing to the brain.

  5. Reading – we often run out of time to sit quietly with a book so it’s great to have this as part of my routine. I’m reading 10 minutes of ‘Playing Big’ by Tara Mohr each day, a recommendation by the brilliant Jackie Meek of Future Path Life Coaching.

  6. Scribing – or free writing. Just scribbling down nonsense or thoughts in a journal or listing what we’re grateful for.

It’s early days, but I’m finding that my Miracle Morning is really helping me to find more energy and positivity after the slump that naturally comes following Christmas and the knockbacks we’ve all experienced in the last couple of years.

You might like to try this way of making a positive start to your day and your year? Or perhaps you could try changing 'just one thing' in your life & see what a difference it can make for your life? Let me know how you get on!
